The Next Hop has been an idea quietly taking shape in my mind for a long time. Over the past few years in the networking industry, I’ve developed a genuine passion for networking and everything around it.

It’s been a journey of constant growth, building skills, solving problems, and learning through every challenge, big or small.

This is a space for me to document that journey and, hopefully, share something useful with others along the way.

About me

I got into the IT industry at 27, starting out in a local data centre. That first role gave me valuable exposure and a foundational understanding of what it really takes to keep things running (nothing fancy, but everyone starts somewhere).

Since then, a strong drive to keep improving and a real hunger to learn have pushed me forward. What started with configuring a DrayTek router in a small office has grown into working on large-scale networks, automating environments with hundreds of nodes across multiple vendors.

And I’m still just getting started.

Content

Here, you’ll find a mix of content - from fundamental networking concepts to more advanced topics. I’ll also be sharing real-world insights from my day-to-day challenges, covering areas like network automation, virtualisation, and everything in between.

Stay up to date with new content sent straight to your inbox! No more worrying about whether you missed something because of a pesky algorithm or news feed.
